Yachts Return to Cavtat Harbour After Waterfront Construction

After an extensive period of construction and renovation, yachts are once again gracing the shores of Cavtat as of July 27, 2024. This revitalization marks the completion of a significant project aimed at enhancing the coastal infrastructure of this picturesque Adriatic town. The works, part of a project worth over five million euros funded by national funds, are nearing their conclusion, much to the delight of locals and visitors alike.

The project, managed by the Port Authority of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, encompasses a wide range of maritime construction activities. These include the reconstruction of a section of the Cavtat waterfront, the construction of a new coastal wall, and the reinforcement of the load-bearing wall. The improvements span approximately 250 meters of the coastal area, involving complex procedures such as underwater excavations, laying of foundations with piles, construction of reinforced concrete blocks and walls, and the installation of electrical, water, drainage, and hydrant networks.

In addition to the primary construction activities, the Municipality of Konavle recently undertook the replacement of infected palm trees along the Cavtat waterfront and old pine trees in the parking lot behind the old town. These efforts contribute to the overall aesthetic and environmental quality of the area, further enhancing its appeal to tourists and locals.

While many refer to this area as Cavtat Harbour, it is technically called Luka Cavtat - Port of Cavtat. The return of yachts to Luka Cavtat signals a significant milestone in the town’s recovery and growth. After a yacht-free 2023 due to the construction, the sight of these vessels docking once again brings a sense of normalcy and economic revitalization. The newly constructed pier and upgraded waterfront facilities are expected to attract more visitors and boost the local economy.

Mooring Fees

How much does it cost to park your yacht in Luka Cavtat - Port of Cavtat? It depends on how big your yacht is. A small yacht starts at 10 meters in length, and based on the fees for 2024: 35.00 € per indivisible linear meter of the boat’s length (LOA), plus an additional 2.00 € per meter, that would cost 370.00 € per night.

As the town continues to evolve and enhance its offerings, Luka Cavtat is poised to become an even more attractive destination for yachting enthusiasts from around the world.
